She Sells Sea Shells down by the Seashore

Summer is late arriving here on PEI. After a week of wind, rain and generally cool weather I thought I would do a post on sea shells to take my mind and yours off our dreary weather. Nothing could be more summery than seashells. Everyone seems to like them and they are one of the best sellers here at Moving Designz Home & Cottage. I think it's because they remind us of happy lazy days spent relaxing at the beach. Seashells make fabulous accessories.

Todays inspiration room. Gazing at this picture makes me think of summer. I am sure the beach is located just steps away from this room.

Let's look at some very nice table top displays using shells. I like this one.

A seagrass bowl filled with pretty candles and a single starfish. We carry 2 sizes of these bowls.

More pretty candles with seashells.

I love this table setting. Very casual yet elegant.

If you would like to create this table top try using some of these little toonie sized sand dollars from Moving Designz.

We also carry this larger size which is about 4-5" diameter.

Another simple table arrangement with sand, beach grass, and shells.

At Moving Designz we sell these pretty pastel coloured starfish, in blue, pink, coral, yellow and lilac.

We also have these white lady finger starfish, coloured trays and seaglass.

Another lovely beachy room with simple table arrangements using a fish bowl, sand and seashells. I quite love the artwork. That chaise looks very inviting and I'll bet the view is out to sea.

We also carry these glam silver lady finger starfish. They look terrific set in glass bowls or square vases.

We also carry these silver sea urchins.

A beautifully arranged wall nook with a nice selection of shells and corals.

Branch coral like this from Moving Designz comes in 2 sizes.

An artful display full of sealife and other collectables. We have some of those sea trees(seen tucked behind the print) in stock at the store ready for framing or leaning as in this image. Our new summer artwork shipment arrived late last week. Lots of great art prints in various sizes and finishes.

Let's look at a couple of mantle ideas. I love the feel of this room. Notice the solid wood stool/side table. From my post "au natural" a few weeks back I did buy one of these stools for my home, it's very cool.

Beach house mantle idea.

Here's an elegant mantle idea layering art, flowers and a piece of white coral.

This is the coral we carry at Moving Designz. We sell lots of these textural pieces.

This elegant bathroom is by Sarah Richardson and look ... there is a piece of coral. In fact, I see lots of pretty pieces of coral in many of her rooms.

Bathroom shelf decor using fresh seaside colours and that lovely blue bowl full of shells.

Another pretty idea for the bathroom.

Shell candles from Moving Designz, only $11.00 per set... perfect for the bathroom.

Bottles of bath gels and a conch shell full of shells and soap. So pretty!

This is a great idea for storing towels.
I found this image used for showcasing seaside inspired fabric but I think it's a great idea for hanging towels. Double sided velco will do the trick for attaching starfish to your walls.

Three seperate canvas' make up this great piece of artwork. I found this picture on Ebay.

Seashells are very popular in wedding decor as seen in this very coastal inspired bridal cake table.

Starfish inspired wedding invites with a starfish keepsake.

Starfish napkin holders. We carry these little silver starfish. A very easy do-it-yourself idea.

The original starfish base table.

We have this smaller cocktail table version at the store. It just came in last week.

And to finish my post a little piece of jewelry. The ever popular Tiffany starfish pendant. I want one.
Have a great week. Thanks for reading.

Feeling Blue?

Sorry to be so late posting, I can't quite believe(well maybe) I haven't posted for 2 weekends. My excuse... I've been really really busy working weekends and restocking the store has kept me too busy to post. I have, however, been stocking up on beautiful images for blogging and have some fantastic rooms and accessory ideas to share with you this week.

Blue continues to be a hot trend this year, especially aqua blue. All shades are in favor, sky blue, robins egg blue, turquoise blue, pale blue, navy blue and teal blue.

Why is blue so hot? Perhaps it's the calming effect it can have or the way it pairs with so many other colours. For me blue can be lively or tranquil. I love it. Anyone visiting Moving Designz Home & Cottage is sure to notice blue is definitely a favorite with us.

My inspiration room. This is Marcia Cross's dressing room. You know Marcia as Brea from Desperate Housewives... Lovely, elegant, this room is STYLIN'.

And here's another very elegant yet casual room. This time instead of being paired up with chocolate and black we see mocha. Now, this is pretty.

A gorgeous pair of pretty blue sitting chairs and that artwork on the mantle is fantastic.

I really love this chair. It's a little hard to tell if it is actually blue from my computer. I'm going to pretend it is even if it's not because it is such a stunning room.

Hmmm a pale blue armoire, never thought of that but you have to admit this is a nice room. Very Scandinavian. Oh yes, loving the crystals dripping from the chandelier... and the pops of hot pink.

I like this approach, graphic blue pillows and blue striped wallpaper hung across the wall. This could be a perfectly chic waiting room.

This picture is from the store showing the pretty blue accessories, blue throws, lovely blue vases and feather filled blue and bronze patterned pillows. In the foreground is a stunning white branch bowl.

This bedroom definitely has wow factor with it's blue accents.

Another great looking bedroom. Blues, beige and cream. Classic.

How pretty is this little bedside vignette?

Now this is pretty funky but goes to show you how nicely blue plays with orange.

Blue also mixes perfectly with fresh citrus green as seen in this geometric fabric.

And this plate of limes...

Lets see what table top decor we have in store for you. This blue tumbler set with matching pitcher are part of our spring line up. So fresh so pretty especially nice is the leafy table cloth. Perfect for summer entertaining.

Another fresh find from Moving Designz is this aqua blue tray.

More tabletop accessories are these beautiful double walled bowls and salad tongs done in both aqua and fresh citrus green.

Ocean blue and more fresh citrus green in our button pillow collection. The denim blue beach bags are a great accent for any summer home.

How about his fabulous restaurant in Montreal "La luna". Benches full of blue pillows, in the foreground navy and in the background aqua blue. Love it.

Now this is a stunning table setting. Pink and Blue. I do. I do.
And that tablescape reminds me of these pretty little blue boxes from Tiffany's. Who wouldn't want a nice little gift wrapped up in this well known box?
A look at very pretty blue glass accessories.

Speaking of blue glass check out this backsplash.

I use this idea alot... Mixing bands of one inch mosiac glass tiles with white subway tiles. Adds a fresh hit of colour and is easy on the budget.

Pretty square aqua vases from Moving Designz filled with spring flowers.

Hope you're inspired and feeling blue in a good way.
Thanks for reading. Have a great week!

Get The Look ... Black and White

This room is my inspiration for this week's post. Most people shy away from black and white so I thought I would share some very inspiring images of rooms done in black and white.

There's alot to love about this room starting with the graphic little "love" cushion. I feel this room is a perfect example of using black and white with a good hit of colour and playfulness. It has all the elements of an inviting room including a game in play, music, artwork, a textural shag rug, pale walls, cozy throw blanket and lastly but, certainly not least, a couple of glasses of red wine :)

I am going to continue on the black and white theme showing a variety of appealing room styles and furniture you can buy from Moving Designz to "get the look". Since the store is only 1800 sq ft we couldn't possibly stock all of these beautiful pieces but they are available through special order. For those of you with more modern tastes I think this post will give you something to think about.

The "Roger" sofa from Van Gogh Designs.

A modern low profile cocktail table, the "Soho".

I love this contemporary room. There's nothing boring about black and white here.

The "Barcelona" coffee table.

The gorgeous "Orlando" sofa from Stylus Made to Order Sofas.

The "Barcelona" chair available in black or white.

Cowhide rug, available in light brown, leopard and zebra prints.

The "Zanzibar" storage bench.

This room is a stunner in black and white.

The "Zeal" sofa from Stylus Made to Order Sofas.

"Diego" sofa table, also available as coffee and end tables

The "Parker" chair.

The "Bailey" pedestal table.

The "Silvio" dining set.

The "Arch" console table.

Another stunning room styled to perfection. However, I think the artwork is hung too high.

The "Zoe" sofa from Stylus Made to Order Sofas.

The "Pilot" table, available as shown in either black or white.

While technically not black and white it does have the pillow, the floor and the throw and I love this look.

You can get it with the "Ray" chaise by VanGogh Designs.

And the "Amalie" cushion filled with soft feather down.

A great looking black and white contempory dining room.

"Aldo" dining chair.

This diningroom is a more traditional look at black and white. This is pretty.

The "Pedro" cream leather parsons chair.

Distressed black pedestal dining table. Currently on sale and in stock. 15% off.

The "Virginia" low back parsons chair.

Graphic or floral, pretty black and white fabrics.

These are 2 great looks on how using black and white graphic fabrics can totally change the look of what would normally be very traditional furniture.

The "Kelsey" table lamp.

Bold black and white floral wallpaper.

A pretty sofa with black and white throw pillows and accessories. Below see a few more products from Moving Designz.
"Olivia" black nesting tables "

A timeless classic the "Naguchi" cocktail table.

"Union" bar or counter height stool, also available as a dining chair. Cool. I love this stool, these are what I use in my design center. They are perfect, polished, modern and a little bit of glam.

"Bianca" leather and wood chair. The new age of tub chairs.

I hope you've enjoyed my long look at all things black and white.

Thanks for reading. Have a great weekend!
