On Display
For todays post I thought we would look at room accessorizing. For many of us this can be difficult as we all have favorite things to display but do not want to end up with a cluttered look.
Here are some quick tips to create an interesting arrangement. Cluster your items together using colour or objects in a unified theme. Vary the height for visual interest perhaps starting with a tall flower arrangement(orchids are perfect for this....see previous post) or branches. Tall items start behind and work your way out with smaller items. Work in odd numbers 3, 5, or 7. Asymmetrical arrangements are more casual than symmetrical. Think about scale... vary the size of your items depending on your surface. A stack of hardcover books sitting on a coffee table can be used as a riser for smaller items.
One thing I like to do is take a digital image and then review it. I find this helps to give your room a different perspective. Let's look at some beautifully accessorized rooms and spaces for inspiration ...starting with livingrooms.

Hello Yellow
As it happened Toronto was in the midst of a record breaking bone chilling cold spell the entire week. It was at least minus 20 or lower most days. This has me craving beautiful warm yellow sunshine and luckily yesterday, here on PEI, we had a most amazing day filled with lots of sunshine and lovely warm (relatively speaking) above zero temperatures.
For todays post I thought we would look at some beautiful yellow rooms and accessories. Perfect for injecting a little spring into your home. Yellow pairs beautifully with white, black, gray, green, orange and aqua blue. Let's look at some very pretty yellow rooms...
This picture inspires me... I love using lemons as accessories. Talk about a shot of pure colour. Right now on my diningroom table I have a white bowl filled with faux lemons that looks very pretty and fresh. At the Toronto show we bought dozens of faux lemons and beautiful whiteware dishes for the store...for your home.
Yellow, white and fresh spring green create a very pretty room.
I love this golden yellow gourd lamp it really adds punch and sophistication.
From Sarah's House Season One this is one gorgeous room...accented with pretty yellow and gold.

Yellow in the kitchen.

Yum, yellow and aqua.
